SARAJEVO — Film stars Brad Pitt and Angelina Jolie flew into Sarajevo for a surprise visit, in a break from Venice, where Jolie is working on her latest film, a police official told AFP.
"Brad Pitt and Angelina Jolie arrived at Sarajevo airport, on board a private plane, from Venice," said a senior officer with the border police.
They were met at the airport by officials from the United Nations children's organisation, UNICEF, the Bosnian daily Dnevni Avaz reported on its Internet site.
UNICEF's representative in Sarajevo Aida Prljaca, in comments to local information website Sarajevo-X, said the couple were on a private visit.
She refused to give details of where they were staying, but dozens of photographers had staked out the luxury Hotel Europe in the centre of the Bosnian capital, said an AFP photographer.
Jolie is currently filming "The Tourist" alongside Johnny Depp, a film loosely based on the French mystery "Anthony Zimmer".
Its director is Florian Henckel von Donnersmarck, who was behind the critically acclaimed 2007 German film "The Lives of Others"

Next destination is Dubrovnik.

Since I know Brad did a movie in Montenegro as a young actor - it's possible that they visit Montenegro, and Serbia, too, since Johnny Depp was here recently....

SARAJEVO, April 5, 2010 (AFP) - Film stars Angelina Jolie and her husband Brad Pitt flew into Bosnia on a surprise visit to meet refugees still suffering from the Balkan country's brutal 1992-1995 civil war, an official said Monday.

"They are in Bosnia to visit the sites run by the UN High Commissioner for Refugees (UNHCR)," local UNHCR spokeswoman Aida Prljaca told AFP.

Jolie and Pitt have not been seen in public since Bosnian border police announced that a famous Hollywood couple had arrived late Sunday.

Prljaca said the couple's visit to Bosnia would be discreet, without any contact with media, and that the UNHCR would likely issue a statement later in the day.

Dozens of photographers staked out the luxury Hotel Europe in the centre of the Bosnian capital overnight Sunday, said an AFP photographer.

The couple flew into Sarajevo from Venice, where Jolie is working alongside Johnny Depp on the film "The Tourist", which is loosely based on the French mystery "Anthony Zimmer".

Sarajevo - Celebrity US couple Angelina Jolie and Brad Pitt, who have made a surprise visit to Bosnia, visited a refugee camp near the town of Gorazde, some 80 kilometers east of Sarajevo, local media reported Monday.
The couple arrived Sunday evening on a private plane from Venice on a visit that had previously been kept under wraps.
"The visit was planned earlier but was kept secret and the Bosnian border police gave them VIP treatment," the daily Dnevni Avaz quoted a border police official.
Media were banned from talking to the couple and all roads around Gorazde were blocked. The United Nations children's organization UNICEF organized the visit and said all the details would be published after the couple has left.
According to unofficial reports, the couple is expected to leave Bosnia on Monday evening and visit the coastal town of Dubrovnik in neighbouring Croatia.
Jolie is currently filming The Tourist in Venice with Johnny Depp.
