Taking a drag off the cigarette I watch as the outside burns away leaving just a piece of ash hanging from the end of the filter. Reaching up I grip the stick between my index and middle finger and then bring it away from my face I spin it in my fingers till I was holding it firmly with the thumb and index. Pressing it coldly into a small ashtray I grind it down with anger and malice, but to look at me you would not even know my discomfort. I was not allowed to show emotion, it breeded weakness and in due time that would mean death. Resting back in a large leather chair I allow my head to tilt backwards and my eyes to focus upwards as I took a brief moment to gain some innerpeace.

America, the very topic was displeasing as I did despise the Americans who seemed to be content with their status as filthy pigs. Arrogant nation had everything on a silver platter; money power politics and they just threw it all away for a cheap tit. But it was also there stupidity that made them profitable, they would pay anything to solve there problems, and one deal at a time we where robbing them blind. But never did I lower myself to speak to such people, that was the job of my grunts. Oh how I did not envy them, I knew what there task was like. I had directly done business with a few Mafia rackets there before. The Fazios and the Genovese I liked neither of them and would have loved to sell there remains on the black market, but they did pay and in the future perhaps they would pay again.

War, something that I had not had to deal with in many years, I kept a tight grip on my turf and put down skirmishes fast but overseas others where not as fortunate. And this was the cause of my distress, not the war itself but the people I would have to speak with about it. War brought around many chances for profit especially for an outside organization like myself, and being an outside organization I would not have to worry about much resistance.

I had been reading the news and getting small Intel reports from a team on the conflict I knew that it was between the Fazio family and the Vittorio family neither of which seemed to have moved into attacks in my area of crime. And for the last week I had been working with my advisor on very subtly hinting at our line of work until finally today I had received news one of the fish had bit. And we of course did our homework on the lead. It was not either of the families directly but rather one of the smaller grunt factions. A small motorcycle gang based in a town called Charming. Leaning forward I opened a small file on their leader, skimming over the contents. Morrow, Clay born 1949 married to Gemma Morrow former Vietnam vet Morrow was served on a small handful of charges and suspected many more. He was one of the worst kind, a loud arrogant redneck a decorated redneck but still one all the same. But he was the quickest and most discreet way to make some profit in the states and he was interested in me.

At first I had not cared I did not wish to deal with him but my advisor had strongly urged me that it was time to do some on hand dealings again, get out of the corporate setting for a while. And I for some reason agreed with him. Pushing his folder aside and picking up a small earpiece I placed it into my ear and reaching down to a small keypad on the desk I push a four-digit code. Waiting for a moment I heard a small click followed by a sequence of barley audible clicking sounds before I was greeted by the sound of a very fluent Japanese receptionist. I wasted no time barking an order that she had been informed on earlier and I was not held up any longer as the line went dead for a moment. This was standard procedure here at House 01 nothing left any of our buildings without being on a secure line.

10 seconds went by and then I heard a dial tone, this meant that we had also picked up the signal on there end and we where effectively hosting the call making it impossible to trace. Resting back in my chair again I waited for the sound of a females voice to tell me that it was time. I never spoke to the directly I let the operator answer the call and get the correct person as there was nothing that I could think of worse then having to speak to more Americans then I had to on this day.

On the other end a phone rang in the Autobody shop of Teller-Morrow one ring two rings and then it was answered by a man. He was greeted by the sound of a Japanese lady asking for Clay and only for Clay and pressed upon him the importance and honor of the call for this man as well as his boss.

It was a simple exchange of words and the possible implied meanings where off the charts but in reality it all boiled down to something simpler. I went into this not liking him, knowing I would not like him and knowing that he was beneath me. So to respect him verbally was something he would just not get, so the implied meanings where of superiority. There was also a slight bit of anger in my inflection, anger that I was even speaking with him. He would not grasp the luck and the honor that he was being given just conversing with me, many had given up much just for that opportunity. Waiting for him to respond my face remained emotionless and cold.
