The craziest Angie & Brad rumours

Angelina Jolie and Brad Pitt are taking a British tabloid to task for an untrue story about the couple's split, but that's the least of the outlandish rumours that have been circulated about this famous twosome.
Oscar Wilde famously said the only thing worse than being talked about is not being talked about, but I'm not sure if superstar couple Brad Pitt and Angelina Jolie would agree.
I do believe they use the press for their own ends (although not in a desperate, Heidi and Spencer kind of way), but the press coverage of this couple since they first publicly inched out of the shadows in April 2005, three months after Pitt's split with Jennifer Aniston, has sent gossip into a whole other stratosphere.

Google ‘Angelina and Brad split rumours' and you'll get 844,000 results. Google ‘Angelina Jolie Brad Pitt rumours', you'll get 120,000,000.

The couple were the focus of plenty of rumours before they even got together, widely believed to have hooked up on the set of Mr and Mrs Smith before Pitt's split with Jennifer Aniston - this one not so hard to disbelieve, but not confirmed.

Last week it was announced the couple are suing British tabloid News of the World after a cover story which ran in late January, reporting that the powerhouse couple intended to split and had thrashed out a deal involving custody and the division of their multi-million dollar fortune.

Allegedly the paper had planned its Sunday cover to feature an expose on English football captain John Terry cheating on his wife with the ex-girlfriend of team mate and friend Wayne Bridge, but Terry won a last minute injunction against News of the World, leaving them with no lead story.

They resorted to Brad and Angelina breaking up, and at the hint of a story (without a shred of proof), the world's media jumped on it with a complete and utter lack of dignity.

The couple's British based law-firm, Schillings, has now taken their case to London's High Court.

A representative for the firm said the paper would not meet the couple's demands for a retraction of the article and/or an apology "for these false and intrusive allegations which have now been widely republished by mainstream news outlets."

"We have advised them to bring proceedings which they have now done," the firm added in a statement.

In addition Los Angeles divorce lawyer Sorrell Trope, named by the paper as working with the couple on their split, confirmed he has no involvement either with Jolie or Pitt.

It's rather hard to start rumours about someone who's been so candidly open about their past as Angelina has. Over the years she's happily discussed her myriad of tattoos, her lesbian love affairs, using knives in sex play, her unconventionally passionate love life with ex-husband Billy Bob Thornton, and her drug use.

She's never been a stranger to controversy, nor has she pretended to be. Give or take the odd stolen fella. (Lest we forget Laura Dern, who was happy as a clam with live-in boyfriend Billy Bob Thornton in 2000. The first she heard of them breaking up is when she got the news that he'd married Angelina Jolie in Vegas).

They're getting married. They're adopting another child from Syria/South America/the Phillippines/Ethiopia/Haiti. They're breaking up. She's cheating on him. He's cheating on her. He's getting back together with Jennifer Aniston. Angelina is pregnant. (Twice that's been right. The other hundred-odd times, not so much).

Some are quite out there and require a good stretch of the imagination even to digest. Let's have a look at some of the weirdest, shall we?


In 2005 security had to rush to the couple's Kenyan hotel room, thinking they were getting attacked by wild animals. Turns out they were just doing the business.

I'd like to believe this one.

"Miss Jolie got so excited, the guards thought maybe Mr. Pitt was taking juju herbs to give him the strength of a lion," reported a source dug up from the resort where the couple was staying.

I wouldn't imagine him to be as fierce as a lion. More like an animal with less backbone.

Then there's crackpot writer Ian Halperin, author of a supposed tell-all book about the couple which was released late last year. He was the go-to guy for comment for many news organisations following the News of the World story, alleging that the romance was most certainly over and that the pair were following the divorce plan used by Brad's pal Guy Ritchie when he split with wife Madonna.

His website ianundercover.com is almost solely dedicated to peddling rumours about the celebrity couple - one of the latest being that Angelina is currently cheating on Brad - with Lady Gaga.

He also alleges the Jolie-Pitt house is ‘a total drug den,' that Angelina has ‘had sex with a minor,' and that he had ‘tracked down a dozen people who claim they slept with Angie over the past four years.'

Take his stuff with more than a few grains of salt.


Angie and Brad wish Shiloh was a boy.

In January former US tabloid editor Bonnie Fuller wrote an inflammatory article arguing that Angie and Brad were ‘guiding' daughter Shiloh ‘into a bisexual role' by allowing the three-and-a-year old wear jeans, sneakers, and an absence of the colour pink.

Fuller pleaded to Pitt ‘Why do you let little Shiloh dress this way?' - as if a small child dressing like a tomboy was tantamount to child abuse.

"What's up with the cross-gender dressing for Shiloh?" she wrote. "Did YOU both want another boy, not a girl? Maddox and Pax weren't enough? Aren't you worried that you're going to confuse little Shiloh? Give her gender identity issues? Isn't it hard enough to grow up without your parents dressing you like the opposite sex?"

Angelina hates daughter Shiloh. This one sprouted some years back from Jolie referring to her then-infant daughter as a ‘blob' compared to her older siblings, and commenting that in comparison to her children adopted from troubled nations her blonde-haired, blue-eyed daughter ‘seemed so privileged from the moment she was born.'

Presumably as you would when sire by two Hollywood superstars.


Twins Knox and Vivienne have a serious medical ailment. This one has been kicking around the traps for the better part of a year - I suspect born from tabloid frustration that two living, breathing examples of the Jolie-Pitt genetic gene pool aren't made more available to them.

Hence the rumours began that now 19-month-old twins Knox and Vivienne were rarely seen out in public because they were underweight, riddled with allergies and had trouble holding down food.

More likely it could be the challenges of two parents wrangling six children under the age of eight when out in public often led Brad and Angelina to leave their two youngest at home when nipping out.

In October the perfectly healthy looking twins were snapped out with their parents after a trip to an ice cream shop in Amman, Jordan.


Angelina slept with her mother's boyfriend when she was 16. This one comes courtesy of another unauthorised biography of the Jolie-Pitts, this time by Andrew Morton, who had famously written books about Diana, Princess of Wales, Madonna and Tom Cruise.

"Marcheline had a live-in boyfriend whom she was very much in love with, but Ange slept with him when she was 16 and barely out of school," an insider told Britain's Now magazine last year. "Her mother found out and ended her relationship with the man."
The source went on to add, "When Ange admitted the story to her brother James just a few weeks ago, even he turned on her. She has hardly anyone left in life who likes or trusts her."

Jolie was working as a teenage model at the time of the supposed affair.

I'm not sure what proof Morton offered up in support of this humdinger, but I could totally believe it.
